JioBlackRock to Launch Regular Mutual Fund Plans Through Distributors in India
JioBlackRock Asset Management, a joint venture between Jio Financial Services and BlackRock, will begin offering regular plans for eligible mutual fund schemes in India. The move will allow investors to purchase these funds through registered mutual fund distributors, expanding the fund house’s reach beyond its existing direct-only model.
Until now, JioBlackRock had offered only direct mutual fund plans, which generally have lower costs because they do not include distributor commissions. The company had focused on digital distribution to keep investor costs lower, but CEO Sid Swaminathan said the distributor-led approach would be useful for more complex and higher-value investment products that require professional advice.
JioBlackRock has accumulated around ₹180 billion in assets under management within roughly a year of launching its operations, with investments spanning cash, debt-index and active equity funds. Earlier this month, the company also launched the JioBlackRock Nifty 50 ETF, marking its entry into India’s growing exchange-traded fund market.
