Jamco to Invest $150 Million in India to Expand Aircraft Cabin Operations
Aircraft interiors supplier Jamco Interiors plans to expand its engineering, manufacturing and supply chain capacity by two-and-a-half times over the next five years, with India playing a central role in its growth strategy. The company, which supplies premium cabin products for Boeing and Airbus wide-body aircraft, will invest $150 million in India and increase its workforce in the country sixfold to 600 employees by 2031.
The Tokyo-based company has established an engineering centre in Bengaluru and aims to make India a full-scale aircraft cabin design hub rather than just a low-cost engineering base. Jamco is transferring complete design authority for its Boeing 787 galleys and lavatories to its India operations, reflecting confidence in the country’s engineering talent and capabilities.
Jamco is also expanding its supplier network beyond Japan by evaluating Indian vendors as global aerospace supply chains remain under pressure. The company expects strong demand from the aircraft retrofit market, driven by production delays at planemakers and shortages of business class seats, with a significant portion of its retrofit design engineering work set to be handled from India.
