Infosys Envisions Talent Model Shift Amid AI Transformation

Infosys, India’s second-largest software services exporter, foresees significant changes in the tech industry’s traditional talent management approach, according to its Chief Technology Officer Rafee Tarafdar. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Tarafdar highlighted the potential shift from the conventional ‘pyramid’ model, which employs the most staff at entry-level roles and fewer at higher tiers. The company is actively experimenting with new frameworks to adapt to the evolving landscape.
The emergence of generative AI is reshaping job dynamics, necessitating new roles like responsible AI specialists, while simultaneously driving re-skilling initiatives. Infosys is focusing on equipping its workforce with advanced skills and recruiting talent for previously non-existent roles. “Everyone is moving between re-skilling, evolving their current skills, or stepping into entirely new roles,” Tarafdar noted.
To support clients, Infosys has developed four bespoke language models tailored for banking, IT operations, cybersecurity, and broader enterprise needs. Tarafdar predicts a growing demand for expertise in responsible AI and model engineering, underscoring the company’s commitment to staying ahead in the rapidly transforming tech industry.
