Indian Airlines Cancel Over 10,000 West Asia Flights Amid Ongoing Conflict
Indian airlines have cancelled more than 10,000 flights to West Asia since the outbreak of conflict in the region on February 28, according to a senior official from the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The situation has significantly disrupted air travel as several Gulf nations imposed restrictions on their airspace following escalating tensions.
Before the crisis, Indian carriers operated around 300–350 flights daily to West Asia. That number has now dropped sharply to just 80–90 flights per day, reflecting a decline of over 70%. The reduction highlights the severe impact of geopolitical instability on international aviation routes.
The conflict began after a US and Israeli strike on Iran, which triggered retaliatory action from Tehran. As the situation continues, airlines are adjusting operations to ensure passenger safety while coping with restricted flight corridors and ongoing uncertainty in the region.
