Delhi-Dehradun Expressway to Slash Travel Time to 2.5 Hours

The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 14, marking a major boost to road connectivity between the two cities. Developed by the National Highways Authority of India, the project aims to ease congestion in Delhi and reduce pressure on existing routes like the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.

Spanning multiple towns including Baghpat, Muzaffarnagar, and Saharanpur, the expressway will significantly cut travel time from around 6.5 hours to just 2.5 hours. The 6-lane access-controlled corridor, with a speed limit of 100 kmph, also features interchanges, bridges, and wayside amenities for smoother and safer travel.

Built at a cost of ₹12,000 crore, the expressway integrates advanced environmental safeguards, including a 12-km elevated wildlife corridor, tunnels, and animal underpasses. It also connects to Char Dham Highway via a spur toward Haridwar, enhancing access to key pilgrimage and tourist destinations while promoting sustainable infrastructure development.
