‘India Will Be Unshackled’: Navroop Singh on Big Tech Hiring Surge Amid Trump-MAGA Push
Navroop Singh, author of The Great Reset and co-author of The New Global Order, said India stands to benefit from rising anti-India sentiment among Donald Trump and his MAGA base, arguing that it will push the country to develop domestic talent independently. Drawing parallels with China’s rise in product and hardware development, Singh said aggressive posturing by the U.S. could create a rupture for Big Tech, leaving American companies “between a rock and a hard place.”
His remarks come as major U.S. technology firms significantly expand their presence in India. Companies including Meta, Google, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft and Netflix are collectively hiring over 32,000 new employees in the country, an 18% year-on-year increase. This brings Big Tech’s total workforce in India to around 214,000, according to data cited by Moneycontrol from staffing firm Xpheno. Much of the hiring is focused on advanced digital skills such as AI and machine learning operations, data engineering, cloud computing and cybersecurity.
In 2025, several U.S. tech giants announced office expansions, fresh hiring plans and large investments in India, which has also emerged as a key market for new-age AI firms like OpenAI and Perplexity AI. This shift coincides with tighter H-1B visa rules under the Trump administration, including a $100,000 fee for new applications and a lottery system favoring highly paid, skilled workers. With a majority of H-1B visas traditionally going to Indians, these changes have further accelerated Big Tech’s push to build talent and infrastructure within India.
