India, Venezuela Deepen Energy Partnership
India and Venezuela have agreed to strengthen their energy partnership, with Indian Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri telling Venezuelan Interim President Delcy Rodriguez that Indian companies are prepared to expand their presence in the South American nation’s energy sector. The discussions took place during Rodriguez’s visit to New Delhi, where both sides explored opportunities for deeper cooperation in oil and gas.
Venezuela invited an Indian energy delegation to visit the country and assess investment opportunities, while also encouraging Indian firms to participate in its reformed oil and gas industry. India reaffirmed its support for Venezuela’s energy sector development, highlighting the long-standing relationship between the two countries in the energy space.
The talks come as India increases crude imports from Venezuela amid global supply disruptions and efforts to diversify energy sources. Rodriguez is also meeting Indian energy executives and visiting refining facilities before concluding her trip on June 7. India has resumed Venezuelan oil purchases following the easing of U.S. sanctions earlier this year, making Venezuela one of its key crude suppliers.
