Government announce to waive of loans, sigh among farmers.

There was some relief to the farmers agitation ongoing in the state as the Maharashtra government announced a blanket loan waiver to the farmers on Sunday. The total loan amount adds up to Rs 1.14 lakh crore but as per the government estimates, the load waiver would not exceed more than Rs 35,000 crore. Special measures would be taken to ensure that the loan waiver is been wetted out to genuine farmers. These special measures will also ensure the big guns and politicians who own large chunks of agriculture land do not avail the benefit.

Along with the loan waiver, government has also agreed to increase the milk prices. Talking to the media Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said  “ Government also accepts the demand of farmers to increase the milk prices. At the same time, the milk societies will have to agree with 70:30 formula of profit sharing on the lines of sugar industry. Farmers and their betterment was, in and will always be this government’s top priority. Group of ministers will also hold the discussion with various political parties for a broader consensus and inclusion.”

He also said “ The loan waiver is for all farmers and not confined to just small and marginal categories. There will be defined parameters to ensure genuine and  needy farmers are not left out of the institutional credit bracket.
