Gouri G. Kishan Calls Out Journalist for Body-Shaming at Tamil Film ‘Others’ Press Meet
Actress Gouri G. Kishan confronted a journalist during the press conference of her Tamil film Others on Thursday, November 6, after he asked her co-star an inappropriate question about her weight. In a bold response, Gouri stated that her weight is her personal choice and has no bearing on her acting talent. The incident quickly went viral, sparking widespread discussion on sexism in the entertainment industry.
The Chennai Press Club strongly condemned the journalist’s behaviour, calling it “unethical, indecent, and condemnable.” In a statement, the organization urged members of the media to uphold professionalism and call out individuals who demean or humiliate women based on their physical appearance. The Press Club emphasized that such questions have no place in forums meant to discuss creative work.
Speaking about the incident, Gouri recounted that her co-actor was asked how it felt to lift her during romantic sequences and that the director was questioned about a “miscasting” due to her appearance. She criticized the sexist undertone of such remarks, saying, “What I want to do with my body is my choice.” Several industry figures, including Chinmayi Sripaada, Khushbu Sundar, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and PA Ranjith, voiced their support for Gouri. Directed by Abin Hariharan, Others, starring Gouri and Aditya Madhavan, released in theatres on November 7, 2025.
