DMK Chief proposes Congress scion as PM candidate
Congress scion Rahul Gandhi has been proposed as the PM candidate of the United Opposition by DMK Chief M K Stalin. The proposal has been made in the public function organised to unveil a statue of late DMK leader M Karunanidhi. Congress President and former Congress Presidnet Sonia Gandhi have been in the meeting. Importantly, several possible United Opposition leaders, such as Kerala CM and CPM leader Pinarayi Vijayan and Andhra Pradesh CM and TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu, have been in the venue when the big move has been made by the DMK leader and possible future Tamil Nadu CM Stalin.
Mr Stalin has remained the public that it was his father Karunanidhi who proposed the name of Sonia Gandhi for the PM post at first. In the meeting, he has strongly criticised the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. He has even called him sadist. To justify what he has said, he has claimed that the PM has articulated some anti-Tamil Nadu policies.
Anyway, it is the first time a non-Congress leader has proposed the name of Rahul Gandhi for the PM post. Rahul Gandhi has not yet reacted to the proposed yet.
It is unlikely that the prime opposition parties like the TMC, TDP and BSP support the candidature of the Congress president.
