Djokovic in the US Open quarterfinals; 25 consecutive wins
Novak Djokovic of Serbia advanced to the quarterfinals of the US Open with his 25th consecutive victory in major tournaments this year.
Djokovic’s victory came at the end of a four – set battle against Jensen Brooksby of the United States. After losing the first set, he made a stunning comeback with the score: 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.
The last American to be knocked out of the US Open was Jensen Brooksby. This is the first time since 1880 that a host country has not reached the quarter-finals of a major tennis tournament. Djokovic’s opponent in the quarterfinals is Italy’s Matteo Beretini.
