Delhi cops donate blood for dengue awareness
Today at a special camp over 200 Delhi Police cops donated blood to raise awareness against the menace of dengue in the national capital and contribute their bit towards battling the vector-borne disease. Around 208 policemen donated blood in the camp organised by Delhi Police in collaboration with Red Cross Society at the Police Headquarters here. As the number of dengue cases in the city are increasing the Delhi Police has launched a special campaign of blood donation DAAN (Donation and Awareness for Needy). “We have also prepared a list about 300 police personnel who will provide blood on a need-basis in any part of Delhi,” says city Commissioner of Police B S Bassi. Till Oct 3 this year, over 7,600 dengue cases have been reported in the city with 25 deaths recorded officially. The unofficial figures of death toll, however stands close to 40.
