CSK Coach On Ambati Rayudu’s Deleted “My Last IPL” Tweet: “Storm In A Teacup”

Ambati Rayudu of the Chennai Super Kings created quite a stir on Saturday when he announced on Twitter that the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season would be his last. The tweet was later deleted, and CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan clarified that Rayudu would not be retiring and would continue to work for the franchise. CSK coach Stephen Fleming addressed the issue a day later during a press conference following the CSK-Gujarat Titans match, which the former lost by seven wickets.

Rayudu was left out of CSK’s playing XI for Sunday’s match against Gujarat Titans at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

“It wasn’t disappointing; in fact, it was probably a bit of a storm in a teacup. But I believe he was unharmed. It has had no effect on the camp, but it is a non-story “During a virtual post-match press conference, Fleming responded to a question from NDTV.

Rayudu announced his retirement on Twitter at 12:46 p.m. on Saturday, but the tweet was deleted almost an hour later. Fans were left wondering whether the current edition was truly Rayudu’s “last IPL,” as the 36-year-old claimed in his now-deleted Tweet.

However, the CSK CEO clarified the situation to NDTV: “He was a little dissatisfied with his performance. As a result, he sent out that tweet by accident. I explained everything to him. He has no intention of retiring. He will accompany us.”

Rayudu was purchased for Rs 6.75 crore by CSK in the IPL 2022 mega auction. Rayudu has 271 runs at an average of 27.10 in 12 games this season.

When it comes to the match between CSK and SRH, the former batted first and scored 133/5 in 20 overs. CSK’s Ruturaj Gaikwad top-scored with 53 runs, while Gujarat Titans’ Mohammed Shami returned with two wickets. Gujarat Titans chased down the total with seven wickets in hand and five balls to spare, thanks to Wriddhiman Saha’s unbeaten 67-run innings. GT consolidated their lead with this victory, while CSK remained in ninth place.
