CM Stalin to Launch Free Daily Meal Scheme for Chennai Sanitary Workers

Chennai Chief Minister M K Stalin is set to inaugurate a free one-meal-a-day scheme for sanitary workers within the city corporation limits on November 15, GCC Mayor R Priya announced. The initiative aims to provide nutritious meals to workers, including those on rotational shifts, ensuring support for their demanding roles.

During an inspection of development works in Royapuram and Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar, Priya also noted that the restoration of Victoria Hall is nearing completion and will be inaugurated by the chief minister soon. She further reviewed ongoing construction projects, including new community halls, additional classrooms under the VCVT scheme, and the quality of food provided under the student breakfast program.

On the weather front, Priya and Health Minister Ma Subramanian highlighted that Chennai has received only 30 cm of rainfall since the onset of the northeast monsoon, much lower than the usual 87 cm. With IMD predicting low-pressure systems over the Bay of Bengal around November 17, 215 relief centres, 111 cooking centres, and 103 boats are on standby to ensure the city’s preparedness.
