Cloudburst: 15 lives lost in Amarnath, many missing, army on rescue mission; Prime Minister intervened

The death toll in the cloudburst near the Amarnath cave temple in Jammu and Kashmir has reached fifteen. The search is on for about 40 missing persons. A cloudburst followed by a flood occurred during a pilgrimage to the temple. 3 eateries and 25 tents were destroyed in the flood, which added to the scale of the disaster.

Rescue operations are underway in the region under the leadership of the army, paramilitary units and disaster management forces for the stranded people. Army helicopters have also been assigned for the rescue mission. The Prime Minister and the Home Minister sought information from the Lt. Governor about the accident.

The Prime Minister informed that all possible arrangements have been made for the rescue operation. The Prime Minister expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and promised all help. Narendra Modi announced on Twitter that rescue and relief operations are in progress and all possible help will be provided to the affected.
