CJP Demands Dhruv Rathee’s Release Amid Delhi Protest
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Saturday condemned the alleged detention of YouTuber Dhruv Rathee by Delhi Police at his Gurugram residence. The party described the incident as a crackdown on democratic dissent and demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Rathee and other detained citizens and student activists. The protest at Jantar Mantar centres on allegations of voter-list manipulation during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and changes related to Form 6.
Ahead of the protest, the CJP issued a 12-point advisory urging participants to remain peaceful, avoid violence, protect public and private property, and refrain from carrying weapons or confronting police personnel. Protesters were also asked to keep emergency routes clear, verify information before sharing it, carry essential medicines and charged phones, and follow police instructions. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, meanwhile, challenged the government to arrest or detain him, reaffirming his commitment to fighting for free and fair elections.
Security has been tightened across Delhi’s border areas, with police conducting vehicle checks and patrolling sensitive locations. Drones, CCTV cameras and body cameras are being used to monitor the situation, while Delhi Police coordinates with Uttar Pradesh Police. Authorities have urged people to avoid the protest site and warned of legal action as preparations continue amid concerns over possible disruptions to transport and internet services.
