It is reported that civilians are being trapped by the Syrian forces in Palmyra ahead of its fall in the Islamic State militants. The UN has shown its deep concern on this issue. The Islamic State has also overrun the World Heritage site along with the modern city which further raised concerns to its future. It is also seen that the militants have destroyed huge sites that were built during the ancient times. On this, the UNESCO has stated that this destruction will be a huge loss to the humanity of the state. Control has been taken by the Islamic State on a military base and also on a notorious prison located near the Palmyra. After the Islamic State captured the Iraqi city of Ramadi, the fall of Palmyra happened. According to the reports, about 40 rebels have been killed in Aleppo while the rebel headquarter was bombed by an explosive. The dead people include three commanders.
