Chengannur by-election: LDF candidate set to grab an astounding victory
The candidate of ruling Left Democratic Front, Saji Cherian, is set to grab an astounding victory in the Chengannur assembly by-election.
As per a latest report, the CPM led front’s candidate has already wristed a large majority of seven thousand votes. According to the report, he has even performed well in the regions where his opponent parties performed well in the previous elections.
The victory is expected to give a new confidence to the LDF government which has been suffering the ire of the public for its inefficiency to bring the police force of the state under firm control.
Meanwhile, the process of counting of votes is under progress in at least nine other assembly constituencies and over four Lok Sabha constituencies which went to polls along with the Chengannur constituency.
The initial trend indicates that the anti-Saffron factor is somewhat strong in the constituencies situated in the Hindi-belt. In the majority of the constituencies, those leading are non-BJP candidates.
It is not clear, at this moment, why and how such a trend has developed. Anyway, the election result is likely to trigger a strong debate across the country. such a debate is likely o irritate the party which rules the centre.
