CEO Challenges Employees To Lose Weight, Offers ₹ 10 Lakh As Reward

Online brokerage firm Zerodha has added a new fitness challenge for employee members to a long list of staff health-related activities.
CEO Nithin Kamath asserts that successful completion of this challenge will reward employees attractive incentives and that one fortunate participant just might win 10 lakh.

According to CEO Nithin Kamath, the challenge would entail burning at least 350 calories each day. The company’s fitness trackers will offer the option of setting daily goals.

“Our latest health challenge at Zerodha is to give an option to set a daily activity goal on our fitness trackers. Anyone meeting whatever goal set on 90% of the days over the next year gets one month’s salary as a bonus. One lucky draw of ₹ 10lks as a motivation kicker,” Nithin Kamath said in a LinkedIn post.

According to Mr. Kamath, his company makes every effort to motivate employees to be active while working from home.

In his post, Mr. Kamath stated, “Given that the majority of us are WFH, sitting is rapidly replacing smoking as a public health epidemic. We are making every effort to move the teams’ members and their families forward, and hopefully we will succeed.” Along with a personal account, the founder of Zerodha also supplied a screenshot of a health app.

“Since my initial weight gain after COVID, tracking activity has been the best growth hack, end up being more conscious about diet too. Slowly upped daily goal to 1000 calories. This is how my Sep looked until now; it will be interesting to see other’s who use activity trackers,” he wrote.

Zerodha has already given staff members rewards for losing weight in April of this year. A bonus equivalent to one-half of a month’s pay would be given to employees with a BMI of less than 25.
