Britannia Profit Beats Estimates on Strong Demand
Britannia Industries reported a higher-than-expected quarterly profit on Thursday, supported by steady demand for packaged food products and price increases that helped offset rising costs. The company’s consolidated profit rose to ₹7.21 billion ($76.29 million) for the second quarter ended September 30, compared with ₹6.54 billion in the same period last year.
The results exceeded analysts’ average estimate of ₹7.17 billion, according to LSEG data. Britannia’s revenue also increased to ₹55.98 billion from ₹48.41 billion a year earlier, reflecting continued demand for its products.
The company joined other major consumer goods firms, including Nestle India and Hindustan Unilever, in reporting higher profits during the quarter. Indian consumer goods companies have introduced new products and increased prices to manage rising commodity costs linked to the Iran war.
