Best Actor and Film; Surya and ‘Soorarai Pottru’ win international accolades
‘Soorarai Pottru’ is a Tamil film released through OTT platform due to Covid background. Directed by Sudha Konkara and starring Surya, the film was a hot topic on social media from the day it started streaming on Amazon Prime. Aparna Balamurali was the heroine. The film has now been screened at the International Film Festival.
The film won the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, Australia. The film won the Best Picture and Best Actor awards. The film was produced by Surya’s own production company 2D Entertainment and Sikhya Entertainment.
Soorarai Pottru is based on the life of GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan, a domestic airline. Aparna Balamurali played the role of ‘Bommi’. Soorarai Pottru became a popular Surya film after a long hiatus. Urvashi also played a major role in the film.
