Be a bit more careful, do not waste God-given ability: Gavaskar to Sanju

Former India captain and commentator Sunil Gavaskar says that the main problem of Malayalee player Sanju Samson is the shot selection. Gavaskar advised Sanju to give up the move of attacking from the moment he reached the crease. Gavaskar said that Sanju’s shot selection in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match against the Punjab Kings was the only challenge he faced. Gavaskar also asked Sanju not to destroy his God-given ability in this way.

Sanju, who was even considered to be playing for India in the Twenty20 World Cup this time, did not even get a place in the squad when it was announced. Despite occasionally shining in the IPL, Sanju suffered a series of setbacks in the Indian jersey. While everyone praises him as a talented player, instability is a setback for Sanju.

‘Sanju is always deceived by his shot selection. Even in international cricket, Sanju does not open the innings. He comes to bat as one down or second down. But the game is like insisting that the first ball cross the boundary when it reaches the crease. That is almost impossible, “said Gavaskar.

Sanju scored a century for Rajasthan during the first phase of the 14th season of the IPL in India. This century was against the Punjab Kings in their debut IPL captaincy in Rajasthan. However, in the first match of the second phase, which started in the UAE, Sanju managed just four runs against the same Punjab. Gavaskar’s words are in this context.
