Amazon India Sees Biggest Ever 48 Hours of Shopping With Record 9.5 Crore Customer Visits

According to Manish Tiwary, Vice President & Country Manager, India Consumer Business, Amazon, the initial 48 hours of the Amazon Great Indian Festival 2023 marked a phenomenal start, boasting the highest number of customer visits, significant Prime membership participation, and an unprecedented surge in transactions and orders. With an overwhelming response from non-metro cities, the event witnessed exceptional same-day deliveries for over 10 lakh customers across the country. Several sellers, especially from tier 2-3 cities, achieved their best sales records, indicating a substantial increase in small and medium businesses’ participation.

The sale witnessed an impressive demand for various smartphone brands, with OnePlus, Samsung, and Apple leading the pack. Notably, the event also showcased a remarkable uptake in Amazon Pay UPI sign-ups, with a significant increase in flight and hotel bookings across multiple cities. Additionally, the introduction of over 5,000 new products across different categories further accentuated the success of the festival.

Highlighting the smartphone sales, Amazon reported an extraordinary purchase rate, particularly among Prime Members, who were observed buying more than 75 smartphones per second during the initial hour of the sale. Notably, OnePlus witnessed a remarkable surge in purchases, with over 100 devices sold every minute, marking a significant increase compared to the previous year. Similarly, Samsung experienced a threefold growth in demand for their flagship Galaxy S Series compared to the previous year.
