AI Boom Powers Schneider Electric’s India Data Centre Growth
Schneider Electric expects its India data centre business to grow faster than its core operations over the next four to five years, driven by rising demand for AI-ready infrastructure. The company said data centres currently contribute 15–20% of its India business and are expanding at a double-digit rate, making them one of its strongest future growth areas alongside grid modernisation.
According to company executive Sumati Sahgal, India’s data centre market is rapidly expanding as AI adoption increases. The country’s total data centre capacity could rise from 1.5 gigawatts today to nearly 6–7 gigawatts by 2030. Growth is also spreading beyond traditional hubs like Mumbai and Chennai into emerging locations such as Gujarat and Rajasthan, where companies are building infrastructure closer to users.
The company supplies critical infrastructure including UPS systems, cooling solutions, switchgear, power distribution units, and energy management software for data centres. Schneider also manufactures locally in India, positioning itself to benefit from rising demand from hyperscalers, colocation operators, and enterprises investing in AI-driven digital infrastructure.
