Adani Group Plans ₹2 Lakh Crore Annual Capex for Five Years

Adani Group has outlined an ambitious capital expenditure plan of about ₹2 lakh crore annually over the next five years, according to Karan Adani, Managing Director of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone. Speaking at the India Today Conclave 2026, he said the group aims to significantly expand its infrastructure footprint, including increasing renewable energy capacity from 18 GW to nearly 50 GW by 2030 and doubling port capacity from 600 MMTPA to 1.2 billion MMTPA.

The conglomerate also plans to boost its thermal power capacity from around 17 GW to 35 GW by 2031 and double airport passenger capacity from 100 million to 200 million by 2030. Adani highlighted that ongoing disruptions such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the blockage of the Suez Canal, and the Russia–Ukraine War have pushed countries to shift from globalised supply chains to regionalised ones.

He emphasised that India must prioritise energy self-reliance by diversifying its energy mix through coal, renewables, nuclear power and improved battery storage. Adani also said the group is restructuring its organisation to speed up decision-making, reducing management layers from 10 to six, while partnering with multiple companies to execute its large capex plans.
