Adani Gets Green Light for ₹136-Crore Airport Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram
The Union Environment Ministry has approved Adani Airport Holdings’ proposal to build a luxury business hotel within the Thiruvananthapuram airport premises as part of its city-side development plan. The ₹136-crore project will come up on an 8,000 sq. metre plot currently used as a parking area. The hotel will feature 240 rooms along with food and beverage outlets, generating an estimated 300 direct and 900 indirect job opportunities once operational.
Industry stakeholders believe the project will significantly benefit seafarers and international travellers, especially after the Vizhinjam International Container Terminal received Immigration Check Post status. With the airport located just 15 km from the port, Thiruvananthapuram will become the only Asian city where airport–seaport proximity enables seamless crew change operations. This is expected to increase international passenger traffic and contribute positively to Kerala’s economy.
Local industry leaders, including representatives from the Trivandrum Chamber of Commerce, CII, and business groups, noted that the city is undergoing rapid transformation driven by major developments such as Vizhinjam Seaport, Technopark expansion, and advanced research hubs like the Life Sciences and Digital Science Parks. They said the upcoming airport hotel will further elevate the city’s global profile by enhancing hospitality infrastructure and improving connectivity for visiting OEMs, researchers, and tech partners.
