Actor and director Pratap Pothen passed away

Actor and director Pratap Pothen passed away. He was 69 years old. He died at his residence in Chennai. He has directed about 12 films. He was found dead in a flat in Chennai. When the worker came home this morning, he was found dead in the bedroom.

He has acted in more than 100 films in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages. In 1978, Bharathan introduced him to the silver screen through the movie Aarav. Released in 1979, Takara is Pratap Pothen’s best movie of all time. Pratap Pothan made his debut in the film industry with the films Lori and Chamaram released in 1980.

Pratap Pothen got more opportunities in Tamil than he got in Malayalam. In 1987, he made his directorial debut with the film Ritubhedam. Later he also directed the films Daisy and Oru Yatramozhi. He has also directed super hit movies in Tamil Jeeva, Vetri Vetri, Seevalaperi Pandi and Lucky Man.
