A bus carrying about 50 people plunged into a ravine, another accident followed by an avalanche; Uttarakhand

A bus carrying 50 passengers fell into a ravine in Uttarakhand. The accident took place in Simdi village of Pauri Gadwal district. Rescue operation started. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that efforts are being made to provide all facilities to the accident site. Local residents are cooperating in the rescue operation. He also informed that disaster relief forces have reached the area.

At the same time, before the impact of 10 people died in the avalanche in Uttarakhand, another accident has occurred in the state. A group of teachers and students of the Nehru Mountaineering Institute in Uttarkashi met with the accident. The search for the 23 missing persons is on. 34 students and seven teachers climbed the mountain in the morning as part of the Advanced Mountaineering Course organized by the Nehru Mountaineering Institute, Uttarkashi.

Draupadi Danda reached the top of the mountain and when the group was returning, the avalanche occurred at 8:30 in the morning. A group of teachers and students were trapped under the snow. Ten people died in the accident. It is indicated that two of them are women. The principal of Nehru Mountaineering Institute informed through a press release that the bodies of four people were found. Eight people were rescued by the army.

The search for the missing continued till night. Rescue operations have been suspended as heavy snow continues to fall in the area. Will start again in the morning. The names of the deceased have not been released. The rescue operation was carried out under the leadership of Disaster Management Force, Army and ITBP.

After the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand sought the help of the Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, two Air Force helicopters arrived for the rescue operation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the accident. Union Home Minister Amit Shah assessed the progress of rescue operations. There was an avalanche in the area a few days ago.
