A Big Win In Court For Uddhav Thackeray In A Battle With Team Shinde

The Bombay High Court today struck a severe blow to the Shiv Sena group led by Eknath Shinde by allowing the Uddhav Thckeray-led Shiv Sena to hold a Dussehra rally in Mumbai’s renowned Shivaji Park. The Shinde faction asked the court to delay making a decision on the petition until the claim to the party issue was resolved, but it was denied.

The Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde’s faction had previously been denied permission by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to host a demonstration for Dussehra in the renowned Shivaji Park due to law and order concerns voiced by the Mumbai Police. The Shinde group requested intervention when the Thackeray faction appealed the BMC ruling.

The court ruled that the BMC order constituted a “clear abuse of the law and bona fide.”

Sada Sarvankar, a Dadar MLA and member of the Shinde group, argued that the petitioners—the Thackeray-led Shiv Sena—were attempting to claim the party under the guise of the current case.

The Shiv Sena, which is led by Thackeray, applauded the ruling and expressed satisfaction that the judiciary had been upheld. The gathering this year, according to party spokeswoman Manisha Kayande, will be spectacular.
