Apple Raises Foldable iPhone Shipment Target to 14 Million

Apple has reportedly increased its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo’s, 12-month shipment target from 9.7 million to 14 million units, marking a 44% rise. According to DigiTimes, the revision follows stronger-than-expected consumer demand after pre-orders opened on October 16. Delivery estimates in the US reportedly extended to January 25 within 30 minutes of pre-orders beginning, indicating significant early interest in the device.

However, meeting the growing demand could prove challenging due to manufacturing constraints involving displays, hinges and assembly. Apple will need to work closely with its suppliers to increase production and ensure sufficient stock. The reported shipment target reflects expected supply over 12 months and does not represent confirmed sales or deliveries.

In India, the iPhone Duo starts at ₹2,99,900 for the 256GB variant. Buyers seeking the device on its October 23 launch day may need to check Apple’s online store for available in-store pickup slots, as availability depends on local stock. Meanwhile, DigiTimes forecasts global foldable smartphone shipments to grow by 25.7% in 2026 and 59.1% in 2027, highlighting the market’s growth potential as Apple enters the segment.
