Tata Electronics Cyber Breach Exposes Alleged Apple and Tesla Trade Secrets
Tata Electronics has confirmed a cybersecurity incident after reports emerged that a ransomware group called World Leaks published more than 200,000 stolen files allegedly linked to Apple and Tesla. The data reportedly includes component design documents, manufacturing specifications, emails, and sensitive employee information from systems connected to Tata’s operations. The company said its systems were quickly secured and that its operations remain unaffected.
Security researchers told Reuters that the leaked material, accessible on the dark web, includes files referencing Apple factory data and Tesla components, such as trade secret design documents and production specifications. Some folders reportedly contained information tied to Apple’s iPhone supply chain and Tesla vehicle parts, raising concerns about exposure of proprietary manufacturing details from major global clients.
Apple is said to be investigating the breach, while Tesla has not commented. The incident adds fresh scrutiny to the security of global electronics supply chains, particularly in India, where Tata Electronics is becoming a key manufacturing partner for Apple. The breach also follows previous cyberattacks on Tata’s wider group, highlighting ongoing cybersecurity risks in the sector.
