RBI Holds Rates Steady; Indian Markets Stay Positive
Indian stock markets remained in positive territory on Friday after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) kept its key policy rate unchanged at 5.25% and maintained a neutral policy stance. Investors are closely watching the RBI governor’s comments for signals on managing rupee weakness and inflation risks linked to higher energy prices.
The benchmark Nifty 50 rose 0.18% to 23,459.4, while the BSE Sensex gained 0.2% to 74,514.76 in morning trade. The gains were modest but reflected market confidence following the central bank’s decision to pause rates.
Most sectors traded higher, with 12 of 16 major indices in the green. Rate-sensitive sectors led the rally, as financial stocks advanced 1.2% and realty shares climbed 1.4%. Broader markets also strengthened, with mid-cap and small-cap indices posting moderate gains.
