India Slams Pakistan Over Kabul Hospital Airstrike, Calls It ‘Barbaric’

India on Tuesday strongly condemned Pakistan following an airstrike on a hospital in Kabul that reportedly killed hundreds of civilians, calling the incident a “barbaric” and “cowardly” act. In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs described the attack as an unconscionable act of violence against a facility that could not be justified as a military target, accusing Pakistan of attempting to portray a “massacre” as a legitimate operation. The ministry also termed the strike a blatant violation of Afghanistan’s sovereignty and a direct threat to regional peace and stability.

The condemnation came after Afghan authorities reported that Monday night’s strikes hit the Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital, leaving over 400 people dead and at least 250 injured. According to deputy government spokesperson Hamdullah Fitrat, large sections of the hospital were destroyed in the attack. India further noted that the timing of the strike during the holy month of Ramzan made the incident even more reprehensible, emphasizing that no faith or law could justify targeting civilians and medical facilities.

Calling for global accountability, India urged the international community to take immediate action against those responsible and to ensure such attacks do not recur. The ministry extended its deepest condolences to the victims’ families and expressed solidarity with the people of Afghanistan, reaffirming India’s continued support for the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during this crisis.
