Self-Styled Godman Swami Vairagyanand Giri Arrested For Raping Devotee In Bhopal

According to authorities, self-styled godman Swami Vairagyanand Giri was detained after being accused of raping a female devotee in Bhopal, the state capital of Madhya Pradesh.

According to assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Richa Choubey, Swami Vairagyanand Giri was detained in Gwalior in connection with a charge filed against him under section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code. He is now being transported to Bhopal. The accused godman allegedly sexually assaulted the female devotee in Bhopal on July 17 according to a complaint made by the devotee on Monday.

According to the official, the complainant claimed that she had been childless for a long time after getting married when she met Giri, who assured her that she would become pregnant through a series of ceremonies.

The woman claims that the godman sexually assaulted her when she passed out after ingesting one of his offerings. According to the victim, she delayed filing a report out of concern about social shame, the official stated.

It is noteworthy that Giri voted for the Congress in the most recent state Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. Following a failed forecast of Congress veteran Digvijaya Singh’s victory in the Lok Sabha elections, the godman stated he will enter “samadhi” (entombment).
