‘Asani’ to Andhra-Odisha coast, extreme caution in coastal areas

‘Asani’ formed in the Bay of Bengal and made landfall on the Andhra-Odisha coast. At present, Asani is located about 550 km off the coast of Andhra Pradesh.

Heavy rains are expected in Bengal on Wednesday and Thursday and in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday and Wednesday. Winds of up to 90 kmph are expected along the Andhra Pradesh coast on Monday.

Rain warning has also been issued for West Bengal. People began to be evacuated from the coast in view of the danger. However, the cyclone will not significantly affect Kerala. However, the Met Office has warned of possible rains. It also warns against thunder and lightning.
