2loehfb

The top court of the country is set to hear the review petition filed against its judgement allowing women of all ages to enter into the famous hill temple of South India Sabarimala as against the age-old traditions followed by the temple administrators. Nearly forty-eight petitions have been filed in the top court in connection with the issue. These petitions are expected to be considered by 3 PM today.

Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi will lead the bench which is going to take decision on the review petitions. Justice R F Nariman, A M Khanwilkar, D Y Chandrachud and Indu Malhotra will be the other judges in the bench.

The bench has already clarified that they would not consider the case in the open court. In fact, a petitioner has specifically requested the court to consider the case in the open court. The court has even dismissed that plea also.

As the Sabarimala temple is scheduled to open on November 17 for a two-month long pilgrim season, today’s judgement is very crucial.

The Kerala government, which is reportedly preparing for an all-party meeting in the issue, has asserted that they would agree to whatever the court decides.

More details are awaited.
