Prime Minister Modi to Inaugurate Kochi Metro : ‘Metro man’ E Sreedharan Exempted.
Prime Minister will inaugurate the much awaited Kochi Metro on Sunday. The first few months would see the train run 13 Km stretch between Aluva and Palarivattom out the total first 25 Km Phase. The rest is said to be set moving by August.
In concern, E Sreedharan, popularly known as the metro man has been exempted from the dias. This comes as a shocker as he has been the master mind behind the whole project. Along with him the former Oommen Chandy, man who took the initiative for the metro back then has also been exempted. Among others who have been excluded are the opposition party leader Ramesh Chennithala, Local MP K.V Thomas and local legislator P.T Thomas.
Elias George, upon asked by the journalist about the exclusion of main people behind he said “The final list is made by the PMO. We have no role in this”. Even before arriving to Kochi, PM Modi has landed himself in trouble because of exemptions and has been awarded with a dozen of criticisms.
Reacting to his exclusion, PT Thomas said” This shows the arrogance of BJP. When the foundation stone for Kochi metro was laid by then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, none was left out from the dias. This is Kerala’s dream project and key people behind this are now asked to sit in the audience. This is totally unfair.”
