10-Year-Old Delhi Boy Dies After Being Sexually Assaulted By 3 Friends

In the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Delhi government’s Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital (LNJP), a 10-year-old kid who was sexually abused and brutalised by three pals, including a cousin, last month passed away this morning. The children involved are all from the same community, between the ages of 10 and 12, and live in northeast Delhi’s New Seelampur neighbourhood.

Doctors reportedly stated that the boy’s injuries were so horrifying that they were reminiscent of the December 16, 2012 gang rape, according to some sources. On September 22, LNJP Hospital notified the Seelampur police station that a youngster, around 10 years old, had been hospitalised due to a physical attack that had occurred three days earlier. When a police team arrived at the hospital and spoke with the child’s parents, they declined to provide a statement, according to the police. The youngster was then being monitored by a doctor.

In conjunction with this, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) had also sent a letter to the police requesting harsh action against the offenders. According to the DCW, it got a complaint from a mom who said that someone had sexually molested her kid, even sticking a rod in his underwear.

According to doctors, the boy’s condition deteriorated as a result of the family’s four-day absence from the hospital.

It was not until September 24 that the family released a statement. The boy’s mother eventually revealed, after police-arranged counselling, that her son had been physically abused and sodomised by his three buddies over a debt that the family was having difficulties repaying on time.

Based on her testimony, a case was opened under the Protection of Children Sexual Offences Act and sections 377 (Unnatural Offenses) and 34 (Common Intention) of the Indian Penal Code. The mother alleged that the accused had also used bricks and rods to beat up her son. Police are still looking for the third youngster who assaulted the victim, but two of the kids—including the cousin—have already been apprehended and brought before the Juvenile Justice Board.
