The special Central Bureau of Investigation court today is likely to announce the verdict in another fodder scam, in which at least fifty-six persons, including jailed Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Prasad Yadav and former Bihar Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra, are prime accused.

Actually, there were nearly seventy-six accused in the case filed by the CBI. But, of the seventy-six, nearly fourteen accused died during the trial; around three turned approvers; at least two accused pleaded guilty; and one of the accused is still absconding.

This is the third prime verdict the RJD leader is going to hear in connection with the fodder scam. The leader has been embroiled in nearly six fodder scam cases.

The year 2013 was when the leader was first convicted in a case related to the fodder scam. The second conviction happened late last year; he is presently facing the sentence of over three years imprisonment imposed on him by the second conviction.

In this latest case, several politicians, IAS officials, top government officials and fodder suppliers are prime accused.

The fodder case, which has been inflicting serious injuries on the RJD leadership since it was publicised, is enfeebling the chances of the RJD to return to power in the Indian state of Bihar, where it has many supporters.
