“Why Not Arrest Jacqueline Fernandez… Why Pick-And Choose?” Court Asks
The Enforcement Directorate today argued against the actor’s request for bail on charges related to a 200 crore extortion case involving conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, saying that Jacqueline Fernandez can easily flee the country because she has plenty of money.
The actor was not yet detained, which raised concerns in court.
“Why haven’t you arrested Jacqueline yet despite issuing an LOC? Other accused are in jail. Why adopt a pick-and-choose policy?” the court asked the Enforcement Directorate.
Tomorrow, the court will probably make its judgement about Jacqueline Fernandez’s bail request public. She had already received conditional bail.
The actor was denied bail primarily due to the Enforcement Directorate’s claims that she attempted to leave the country, didn’t participate with the investigation, and was the subject of serious charges.
“We have not seen ₹ 50 lakh in cash in our entire life but Jacqueline frittered away ₹ 7.14 crore for fun. She has tried every trick in the book to try and escape because she has enough money,” the Enforcement Directorate argued.
To prevent the actor from leaving the nation, the Enforcement Directorate has issued a lookout circular (LOC) that has been posted in airports.
In a charge sheet submitted by the Enforcement Directorate in the extortion case against imprisoned conman Sukesh Chandrashekar, Jacqueline Fernandez has been listed as an accused. The actor has been accused of receiving expensive gifts from Sukesh Chandrashekar, who extorted crores from celebrities and businessmen.
The Bollywood actor from Sri Lanka claimed she was given expensive vehicles, Chanel and Gucci handbags, Gucci workout gear, and Louis Vuitton jewellery and shoes. She added that Sukesh Chandrasekhar had organised her hotel stays and private aircraft travel.
Sukesh Chandrashekhar, who has been imprisoned in Delhi since 2017, is accused of defrauding numerous people, including Aditi Singh, the wife of former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh.
