What actions taken against political parties failed to disclose financial details, Delhi HC asks ECI

ECI Election DelhiHC UniqueTimes

The Delhi High Court has asked the Election Commission of India what actions have been taken against the political parties, which failed to comply with its directives in connection with the disclosure of financial details.

The question has been raised when the top court of the Indian state of Delhi has considered a petition filed by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).

The petition has been presented before a High Court bench chaired by Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice V K Rao.

The bench has directed the Election Commission of India to file an affidavit on what powers it has to ensure implementation or its guidelines.

The Election Commission of India has informed the concerned court that they have written to all those political parties who failed to comply with their guidelines.

The ECI recently directed that the political parties should disclose their income and expenditure details.

As per a latest report, many political parties have not showed any eagerness to comply with the directives of the Election Commission of India.

The sad reality is that among the political parties who have not yet disclosed their financial details, there are political parties which have power.
