Weeks After Murder, Aaftab Poonawala Shipped 37 Boxes From Mumbai To Delhi

Aaftab Poonawala, the suspect in the savage murder of his roommate Shraddha Walkar in May of this year, spent 20,000 to have his possessions moved from his apartment in Maharashtra’s Palghar district to Delhi in 37 boxes in June, a police officer said on Monday.
According to police sources, Aaftab told Delhi Police that before relocating to the capital, he and Shraddha quarrelled over who would pay for transferring the possessions out of their home in the Vasai neighbourhood of Palghar. According to a police officer, they will determine whose account was used to transfer $20,000 in June to pay Goodluck Packers and Movers for the delivery of furniture and other home items.

It was discovered that Aaftab had moved possessions in 37 packages from his apartment at White Hills Society in Evershine City of Vasai to his home in Delhi’s Chhatarpur neighbourhood in June after a Delhi Police team on Sunday recorded the statement of a worker of the packaging business in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, the official said.

The victim’s hometown of Manikpur in Vasai, where the couple resided before moving to the city, is where the Delhi Police team is currently stationed.

The police on Sunday also recorded the statement of the owner of the house where Shraddha and Aaftab stayed in 2021 and the owner of the flat in Mira Road area near Mumbai where the accused’s family members were staying till a fortnight ago (before becoming untraceable), officials said.

According to earlier reports, the Delhi Police team interviewed four people in Palghar on Saturday, including two individuals who Shraddha had asked for help from after Aaftab had assaulted her in 2020. To look for potential evidence in the case, the Delhi Police despatched teams to Maharashtra, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh on Friday.

Officials claim that after leaving Mumbai, Shraddha and Aaftab travelled to a number of areas, including Himachal Pradesh. Police are currently investigating these locations to determine whether any events that occurred during these visits may have inspired the accused to kill his partner.
