WCD ministry writes to sensitise schools on deadly ‘Blue Whale Challenge’

In the recent past, the country has witnessed several fierce discussions around the challenges posed by the deadly ‘Blue Whale Challenge’ on the life of youngsters, particularly on the life of school children. As more details about the dangerous rounds of this deadly game is surfacing each day, more and more people, particularly the parents of the teenagers, are coming forward with the claim that they have witnessed these kinds of behaviours in their children (the unfortunate fact is that most of these youngsters whose parents came forward with the claim are no more). On the wake of this unpleasant development, the Union Minister of the Women and Child Development, Maneka Gandhi, has sent letters to all school principals working in our country to sensitise the schools on the Blue Whale Challenge. The information regarding the letter has been publicised by the ministry itself through their twitter handle. In the tweet message, it has been said that the schools should take adequate steps to tackle the disaster. Earlier, the Minister of Information and Technology asked the social media platforms, such as Facebook and WhatsApp, to block those contents and links that direct the user to the disastrous internet game. It is clear that the central government is keenly observing the developments in this area and is very particular that no death related to this game should happen in the future.
