Vodafone Idea Shares in Spotlight as Arm Raises ₹3,300 Cr via NCDs

Vodafone Idea Ltd (Vi) shares were in focus on Friday after the telecom operator announced a ₹3,300 crore fundraise through the issuance of unlisted, unrated, non-convertible debentures (NCDs) by its subsidiary, Vodafone Idea Telecom Infrastructure Ltd (VITIL). The company said the issue attracted strong demand, with investor interest exceeding the size of the issuance, reflecting renewed confidence in the telco’s outlook.

The NCD issue drew participation from a diversified group of marquee investors, including large non-banking financial companies (NBFCs), foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) and alternative investment funds (AIFs). Vodafone Idea said the proceeds will be used by VITIL to meet its payment obligations to the parent company, which will in turn help Vi strengthen its capital expenditure plans and support business growth.

Commenting on the development, Vodafone Idea CEO Abhijit Kishore said the successful fundraise reinforces investor confidence in the company’s long-term strategy and vision. He added that the fresh capital will help accelerate network expansion and service enhancement, while discussions with banks are ongoing for raising additional long-term debt to further support capex. JM Financial Products Ltd acted as the exclusive debt arranger for the transaction.
