Virender Sehwag stops troll after response to tweet featuring Virat Kohli and Jonny Bairstow
A Twitter user attempted to mock Virender Sehwag over a post about Virat Kohli agitating Jonny Bairstow, and Virender Sehwag, famed for his sharp sense of humour, responded with an epic response. On Day 3 of the rescheduled 5th Test match between India and England at Edgbaston, Kohli smacked Bairstow; shortly after, the batter, who had been having trouble at first, changed gears and tore through the Indian attack. Pujara ki tarah khel rahe thhey, Kohli ne Pant banwa diya bewajah sledge karke (He was playing like Pujara, Kohli converted him into Pant with his needless sledging),” Sehwag had tweeted during Bairstow’s knock. “Strike Rate before Kohli’s Sledging -: 21. Post Sledging – 150.”
In response, a commenter questioned if Sehwag would have tweeted if Bairstow had escaped after being slammed by Kohli.
“Haan yaar, karta (Yes, I would have),” Sehwag wrote in response.
Bairstow eventually was removed for 106 off 140 balls by Mohammed Shami after reaching his century off 119 deliveries.
When England reached 284, a decent score, the hosts had fallen to 84/5 at one stage due to his knock. It was Bairstow’s third century in as many games and his 11th century overall. India took a 132-run first innings lead after scoring 416 in their first essay.
As they finished on 125/3 at Stumps on Day 3, they increased their lead to 257.
On 50 and 30, respectively, Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant were both unbeaten at the wicket.
