Trekkers trapped in Uttarakhand; Eleven people are dead and the rescue mission continues

Heavy snowfall in Uttarakhand has killed at least 11 trekkers. Those who left on October 18 were dead. The Air Force has launched a mission to bring back those trapped in the Lamkhaga pass. At an altitude of 17,000 feet above sea level, 17 people, including tourists and guides, were stranded due to heavy snowfall. Of these, 11 died. Eleven bodies have been found far from the Lamkhaga Pass. The Lamkhaga Pass is the main road that connects Kinnaur District in Himachal Pradesh with Harsil District in Uttarakhand.

Authorities were seeking the help of the Air Force in the rescue operation after the mountaineers were trapped. Two AL helicopters then flew to Hershey for a search. On October 20, the NDRF team searched the entrance at an altitude of 19,500 feet. The next day, the mission found the two trapped at two locations.

Four bodies were recovered from here. The helicopter reached the survivors but could not get them out. On the 22nd, one person and five bodies were brought. Efforts to rescue others continue. Heavy snowfall and winds set back the rescue mission. The bodies were handed over to the local police.
