The zest created by Mammootty’s mobile phone on a film set 25 years ago!
Mammootty’s mobile phone had created a zest on his set 25 years ago, recalls an adept director. Director Thulasidas said that it happened when he was shooting the movie “Aayiram Naavulla Ananthan” 25 years ago which included many big stars like Mammootty, Murali, Gauthami, Madhavi and Devan.
“It all began, when Mammootty arrived on my set .He was carriying a big mobile headphone and if I remember correctly, it was a Motorola handset. Only very few people had it”, said Thulsidas, the movie’s director.
Thulsidas said that the mobile was one of the most talked about thing on the set.
“After a few days, Gauthami, came with the same one; soon Madhavi was spotted having one too and then came Devan with his new mobile. Murali, however, did not have one,” said Thulasidas, who has directed 31 films, in which many were box office hits.
“A few times, as the camera started to roll, a mobile would ring, the actor would then stop the shoot and go off to answer the phone. However, Murali was not at all pleased with all this and then soon he called me and said, if it happened again, he would go away.”
“It was tough convincing him, but soon things were sorted out and the shoot continued,” said Thulasidas, the director. The film which was released in 1996 was actually a super hit!
