The Internet Has Discovered Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s 1992 Modeling Contract

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, one of Bollywood’s biggest stars and widely regarded as one of the most beautiful women on the planet, is the owner of the decades-old contract. The disputed modelling contract was discovered on the Reddit page “Bolly Blinds N Gossip” and dates from two years before her coveted Miss World victory in 1994.
The contract, which dates from May 23, 1992, shows that the actress was paid $1500 for a magazine shoot. According to the contract, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who was “about 18” years old at the time, agreed to work as a model for a Krupa Kreations magazine catalogue shoot. The single-page contract was signed in Mumbai and features Aishwarya Rai’s signature. A user shared the contract with the caption, “In 1992, Aishwarya Rai was paid Rs. 1,500 for one day’s work.” I hadn’t even been born yet!”

Images from a vintage photoshoot by photographer Vimal Upadhyay featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were shared on social media shortly after the contract went viral. The images, according to the photographer, are from three decades ago. Aishwarya Rai appears in the photos alongside Sonali Bendre, Niki Aneja, and Tejaswini Kolhapure, among other actresses and models.
“Hello, yesterday I celebrated the 30th anniversary of the fashion catalogue published by me,” Upadhayay wrote on Tuesday, alongside a series of photos taken for a magazine catalogue dedicated to salwar kameez looks. Models like Aishwarya Rai, Sonali Bendre, Niki Aneja, and Tejaswini Kolhapure posed for this catalogue.”
The talk about Aishwarya Rai’s contract and photos from 30 years ago comes as the Devdas actress has made headlines for her fashion choices on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet last week. Aishwarya Rai was the cynosure of all eyes as she attended the prestigious film festival – her 20th year at Cannes – as the brand ambassador of the cosmetics giant, L’Oréal.
