Tesla has begun recruiting AI Hardware Engineers in Bengaluru, marking a potential deepening of its advanced technology operations in India. The new role sits within the company’s AI & Robotics division under Engineering and R&D and focuses on developing hardware that powers neural-network-driven systems such as Full Self-Driving (FSD) and the Optimus humanoid robot programme. The move signals Tesla’s growing interest in tapping India’s semiconductor and embedded systems talent for high-end innovation work.
According to the job description, the AI Hardware team is responsible for designing cutting-edge custom silicon and compute architectures aimed at accelerating machine-learning performance. The role includes developing and testing hardware components, collaborating with cross-functional software teams, building prototypes, and using data analysis to guide engineering decisions. Candidates may be evaluated by multiple teams within the department depending on their expertise, as the listing is a general application for the broader AI hardware group.
Tesla is seeking engineers with backgrounds in computer or electrical engineering and experience in AI accelerators, microarchitecture, physical design, RTL, DFT, and design verification. Proficiency in tools such as Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software and programming languages including C++, Python and MATLAB is also required.
