Tamil Nadu MBBS counselling to start on July 8

The counselling for admission to MBBS and BDS in Tamil Nadu is expected to commence on eighth of this month. The Tamil Nadu authorities have today released the first merit list for admission to MBBS and BDS.

The Indian state of Tamil Nadu has nearly 5,400 MBBS seats and 1,940 BDS seats.

This year, the authorities, under the government quota category alone, have received nearly 31,353 applications, as per a media report. The same year, the authorities, under the management quota category, have got over 29,007 applications, says the same report.

The report adds that the authorities this time will give a five per cent reservation for the differently abled category. There will be seven MBBS seats and one BDS seat for the sport quota category, according to the report.

The authorities have not given clarity on whether they will allow the implementation of the 10 per cent quota for the economically weaker sections among the open category.
